On Saying Good-bye to his Teacher

Shawners, talking about the create-your-own Starbucks mug I bought for him to give to his teacher that you draw on then bake: "You know what would be sweet? If there was a drink you could drink like if you were sad about your teacher leaving and then you could cry and the tears would make a color on the mug." 

Then, a few seconds later...: "I would be a trillionaire if I made that."

Last week, when the entire class cried after hearing the news that their teacher was leaving, except for four kids including Shawners, he tells his teacher: "I wasn't crying on the outside, but I was on the inside."

Email from his teacher:
THANK YOU so much for the cake pop and gift card. That was very thoughtful of you!!! Shawn was so cute yesterday, he told me he wasn't crying on the outside, but was on the inside. I got a big hug!!! Thanks for your support and kind words this year!

On Growing Up

When I grow up I'm going to be the president then get them [squirrels] because it's illegal to have to them. But I can't be a president and a professional snowboarder. [when I ask who says you can't be?] I say I can't because I have everything to do when I'm president. [after a pause] You know I'm not going to be president. [I comment Cause you'd rather be a professional snowboarder?] Yes, and there's a lot of other animals I can have. Like birds.

On Snowboarding and Olympics

After learning to shred on his second time snowboarding, "I love snowboarding. I want to be an Olympics snowboarder."

On Melting Snow

Shawners, after being in Tahoe for a few days with snow, then rain: Dad, I think our family is giving off to much body heat to the world since all the snow has disappeared since we got here.

On Cocacolatime

After taking a drink of coca-cola amd coughing and being asked if he's okay, Shawners says, "Yeah, sometimes coca-cola is just like, boom!"

Presidenttime

When I grow up I'm going to run for president, then I'm going to change the law that says you can have squirrels for pets.
